Overview:    Starting March 21, 2014, SeaWorld® celebrates five decades of inspiring guests with unique entertainment, thrilling rides, and up-close encounters with amazing sea life. SeaWorld’s
50th Celebration will feature a Sea of Surprises™ at all three parks to commemorate a key
milestone for the company that started when the original SeaWorld park opened its gates on San Diego’s Mission Bay in March 1964.
SeaWorld invites visitors to take part in the excitement through new interactive experiences, shows and pathway performances, even more up-close animal encounters throughout the park and the SeaWorld “Surprise Squad” treating guests with prizes every day.
SeaWorld Orlando opened on December 15, 1973.
Starting March 21: “Bubble Blowout” is sure to be a guest favorite. An eccentric tinkerer travels throughout Shamu’s Happy Harbor by way of a whimsical vehicle, stopping to create bubbles of all sizes and shapes while engaging guests to create the big Bubble Blowout.

Spontaneous performances like “Splash Dance” will pop up at surprising moments to engage guests throughout the day. A local landscaping team loses control of their hoses and sprayers and before too long they are soaked from head to toe.  Comedy, laughter, music and water greet the crowd in a rambunctious show of fun surrounding Nautilus Theater.

The “SeaWorld® Surprise Squad” delights guests with prizes and surprises throughout the park during our 50th Celebration.* This lively duo roams the park on a daily basis randomly giving away special gifts, including exclusive access to rides, behind-the-scenes experiences, Shamu-themed merchandise, reserved show seating and more.

Share the wonder of close-up encounters with amazing animal friends and learn how SeaWorld cares for the natural world at the all-new SEA Garden. The SEA Garden is where visitors can learn more about and get close to animals, most of them rescued, including eagles, spoonbills, opossums, and more.
Starting June 21, “Shamu’s Celebration: Light Up The Night”, new nighttime Shamu Show debuts. The high energy show will include new, original music and production elements, as well as new killer whale behaviors.

SeaWorld guests are often greeted by an animal ambassador, many of whom were orphaned or injured in the wild and given a second chance thanks to the SeaWorld Animal Rescue Team. As part of SeaWorld’s 50th Celebration, there will be many more surprise encounters with animal ambassadors at the front gate and at SEA Garden throughout the day.

Seahorse: The 7-foot-high seahorse sculpture is made entirely of beach trash that has been collected, processed and assembled by volunteers to highlight the environmental sensitivity of animals that live in the shallow sea grass meadows and mangrove forests along shorelines. The sculpture teaches guests about the dangers posed by marine debris accidentally blown out of a boat or discarded into delicate ocean ecosystems.

Parrot Fish: Community volunteers collected marine debris from ocean beaches and then worked collectively to create this gigantic parrot fish.  This trash-turned-art highlights the plight of the bright parrot fish whose coral reef homes are endangered because of marine debris and pollution.

Sea Anemone Reef: This 12-foot-wide cluster of colorful sea anemones is made of debris that has been washed ashore from the ocean.  The recognizable discarded tires, nets, ropes, and plastic water bottles that make up this sculpture highlight the dangers that can threaten these “flowers of the sea” that are found throughout the world’s oceans.

At nearly 80 feet tall, thrill seekers will face their fears…and each other. After stepping into one of three clear “breakaway boxes,” they’ll watch each other fall one-by-one as the floor underneath them disappears. They’ll never know who’s going to breakaway first – and the anticipation of who drops next is part of the wild ride! Once the floor drops, riders will drop 20-24 feet per second!
Those who dare to brave our new ride will experience an almost vertical drop for nearly 40 feet! That’s the steepest drop in the southern United States!
Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is the only high-speed water thrill slide in the world that propels guests through four, 360-degree spirals.
